The beginnings of Vodeb trade mark date back to the year 1991 when Marta became the winner of the prestigious Zlata Jana award for her fall-winter collection at the fashion expo in Ljubljana. The award was granted by a jury consisting of the then leading Yugoslavian fashion connoisseurs, and it placed the Vodeb fashion house among the leading names in the Slovenian fashion industry and strengthened her belief that she was on the right track with her design ideas.

Throughout the 90s, Vodeb was devising and creating clothes collections for women and developing the recognisable aesthetics of the current trademark: simple but refined design, unique details, clean and elegant lines, masterful tailoring and exquisite materials. All the Vodeb collections have always been delicate, but also slightly strict and sharp, classical but at the same time also daring, slightly masculine, but also indisputably feminine.

The Vodeb's colours have generally been black, white and grey, and the dramatic has been based on the play with contrasting materials. The years of reflecting on clothes design and production have purified the essence of the Vodeb trademark philosophy: Vodeb clothes shall be as multi-layered as the person they have been created for.

In the 90s the Vodeb fashion house cooperated with some of the most prospective young fashion designers in Slovenia such as Tanja Zorn Grželj, Belinda Škarica, Uroš Belantič and Zoran Garevski, and they would regularly organise independent fashion shows and present their designs at Modna Jana (a Slovenian fashion magazine) fashion shows. In 1992 Vodeb was invited to take part at anexhibition presenting Slovenian design at the Liberty department store in London. The exhibited collection was purchased and sold out, and the Vodeb fashion house was invited to further cooperate with Liberty.

In the new millenium Vodeb has made some key changes. Marta Bevc Vodeb has taken over the design of all the collections, whilst the fundamental philosophy of the trademark has remained unchanged. Vodeb clothes have become increasingly more feminine, the basic black and white colours have been replaced by strong colours as well as pastel shades. Marta's statement regarding her collections, which are mostly based on the fashion of the 1950s, is as follows: »The fashion from this period is extremely feminine, still rather unexplored and it represents a rich source of inspiration for fashion designers. I am very fond of all the periods between the 1920s and 1970s and they still serve as my main source of inspiration.«
